Chelsea completed a shock move for former England number one Robert Green, to move to the club as a goalkeeper on Thursday morning and the player has expressed his joy at the new move.
The reports that the Blues will sign the former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers shot stopper initially seemed a joke to Chelsea fans but the Premier League giants have moved quickly to confirm the reports.
Officially Green is now a Chelsea player, who will effectively add to the home grown quota of the club and also provide competition to second choice goalkeeper Willy Caballero who will deputize whoever is brought on to replace Thibaut Courtois, should he leave to Real Madrid like the tabloids have it.
For Green who failed to get a single opportunity to impress at Huddersfield, the ‘opportunity’ to play at a top club as Chelsea in the coming months delights him as he calls it ‘something special’ in his tweet after the move.
It’s been a crazy few days but I am incredibly excited to have joined one of the biggest clubs in world football in @ChelseaFC . To have this opportunity at this stage of my career is something truly special, and I can’t wait to get started now. Thanks to everyone for the support

Green won 12 England caps between 2005 and 2012 and played at the 2010 World Cup.
