Former Chelsea hero and club legend Petr Cech has denied reports linking him with a move to rejoin the Stamford Bridge club, insisting he is currently working on winning the heart of the new Arsenal manager, Unai Emery.
Cech has long been linked with a return to Chelsea this summer, after the Gunners signed Leno from Bayer Leverkusen and Thibaut Courtois also expected to leave Stamford Bridge to Real Madrid this summer.
The Blues will be thrown into a frenzied search for a new shot stopper in the event that Courtois leaves, especially when it’s very close to the end of the transfer window.
However, speaking to the Arsenal official website, Cech claims not to have received any contact from Chelsea in the last few months and was adamant he is working tirelessly to convince Emery, he is the right man to remain in between the sticks for the Emirates club.
“I have a contract with Arsenal. I am concentrating on this season, on the competition between the goalkeepers because we have plenty of options.
I’m doing my best to show to the manager that I can be in the starting lineup when the season starts. That’s my aim and, as for the speculation, I don’t really follow it. I’ve had no contact with Chelsea.”
