Chelsea may have discovered a gem from their age limit squads this summer, after very impressive performances by Callum Hudson-Odoi look to have persuaded Maurizio Sarri to keep him around this season.
Sarri has given the 17-year old chances in the first two friendly games that have been played so far by his first team, against Perth Glory in Australia and Inter Milan just last weekend. The academy graduate started both games and was a shining light among his teammates, contributing immensely to the clear chances created in both games.
Life under Sarri has been good so far, and Hudson-Odoi is basking in the chances given although the U-17 England international acknowledges he must work hard and win the heart of the new manager.
The fact the manager is giving me the opportunity to play is really boosting my confidence so I just want to keep getting on the ball, pressing and working hard.
The more games I play, hopefully the more I will be able to impress him as well. Getting the opportunities is obviously a good thing so I just need to keep going.

Under Antonio Conte last season, Hudson-Odoi played twice in the Premier League and another two in the FA Cup to cement his position as a prime academy star ready to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge, and it looks as though the pre-season has set the tone for a smooth transition to life as a Premier League star.
