Chelsea are looking to iron out their transfers with just over a week remaining to bring in new players either as replacements for their outgoing stars, or sealing deals for their want away players.
The Blues have currently signed only two players, Napoli midfielder Jorginho and Robert Green to deputize Thibaut Courtois and Willy Caballero. However Courtois is expected to move away from the Stamford Bridge club this summer with Real Madrid seemingly interested in bringing him in to replace first choice Keylor Navas.
Should that happen, Chelsea have penciled down a number of options, some of whom have become unavailable in the last few weeks either by committing to their clubs or switching to new clubs.
One of them is Jack Butland of Stoke City and his manager Gary Rowett says he ‘hopes’ and ‘expects’ Butland to remain at the Bet 365 stadium next season unless something dramatic happens in the final hours of the transfer window.
“I expect him to stay, I hope he stays. I’m also pragmatic enough to know it’s football and anything can happen in the last few days of the window. We haven’t had an offer which the club feel is financially viable – or I don’t think any strong offer yet.
Jack has never made any real moves to want to leave and he’s contracted to us and we’re not even a week away from the first game.”
