Chelsea are reportedly progressing with talks to trade off Tiemoue Bakayoko to AC Milan after the midfielder struggled last season.
The French international was highly regarded in France following his breakthrough season at AS Monaco, but was far less impressive in his debut season at Stamford Bridge, failing to convince the head coach Antonio Conte and the club’s fans with his displays.
His poor performances meant he was behind in the pecking order in midfield and that trend seems to have been continued by new head coach Maurizio Sarri.
The Italian tactician has selected Jorginho, Cesc Fabregas and Ross Barkley as his first choice options in midfield before the arrival of N’Golo Kante from his holiday break and Bakayoko could be a fringe player in the setup next season.
But there’s interest from AC Milan who prefer signing him on loan with an option to make the deal permanent next summer, and Sky Italia via Football Italia say discussions between the two clubs are at an advanced stage.
