Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri is currently getting some delightful football out of his Chelsea squad this season, barely a few weeks after he joined the club in the summer.
The former Napoli tactician is not only a lover of the slick passing football but also gets the best out of his attackers by getting goals. This season, Chelsea have scored eight goals in three games, while winning all their matches they have been faced with so far. It has not been the kind of difficult start many predicted Sarri to endure but he takes not chances.
He has quickly gotten his team to dominate games as was seen in their last game, earning possession of 81% as opposed to Newcastle’s 19%. If Chelsea will do better than they did last season, the Blues will have to simply play better and take their chances and you can bet they are doing just that.
Sarri says the kind of football they are playing at the moment was demanded at the negotiation table.
“But I think he [Abramovich] knows it [will take time]. If they called me 40 days ago, I think it’s because they wanted to see my football here. It’s not easy, but I have to try.
It’s important if I like it, first of all. I want to enjoy, I want to have fun, press the ball. Then, if I enjoy the game, maybe the supporters enjoy the game. And I think that, if the team enjoy the game, they’ll have a lot of opportunities to win the match. It will take two or three months. But I think, in this case, with this team, there are very intelligent players.”
