Olivier Giroud is one of the most favored strikers in world football, judging by his failures in front of goal in the past few months. He gets constantly picked by Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri and Didier Deschamps too for the France team.
The former Arsenal striker is on the list of players called up for France for their international friendlies coming up. Despite not scoring for Chelsea this season in all competitions, and going an entire World Cup without getting on the scoresheet, Giroud keeps attracting interest from the French technical team.

In his defense, Giroud is talked up by his coaches for his hold up play and ability to play in other attackers to create goalscoring opportunities in the French and Chelsea teams. At Chelsea, he is helped by the profligacy of Alvaro Morata, who has relinquished his place in the first team since the last international break to his French rival in the Blues team.
But what’s surprising is how Giroud gets the nod in a French national pool that boasts a number of top players playing their football across the continent. It looks as though Giroud will keep getting selected as long as Deschamps keeps his role as head coach of the World champions.
He is joined unsurprisingly by Chelsea teammate N’Golo Kante as France prepare to take on Iceland and Uruguay.
