After making his first start of the season in all competitions, Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has revealed he is ready to prove his worth after his brilliance against Vidi last night.
The England international is one of the players who need to do more to impress Maurizio Sarri after the former Napoli head coach introduced a brand new philosophy at Stamford Bridge. His style means some of the players will need to adjust before getting ample game time across the season.
Loftus-Cheek could have enjoyed some minutes against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup, but he suffered an injury he needed to recover from before making a start this season. Although he could have felt the frustration somewhere in that time of not playing, he reveals he had to be patient in order to get unto the pitch but also says the months to come will be important as he eyes more playing time before making a decision to move out on loan.
“It was good to be back out there. I have had a niggle in my back, which I have to take carefully because I have had a lot of injuries there.
I have had to stay patient but it felt good. I will build up my fitness now and hopefully I will have that solid block of training and football and see where I go from there.”
