John Terry to get his first managerial appointment just one week after his retirement

Former Chelsea defender John Terry is set to be named assistant manager at Championship club Aston Villa, with Jose Mourinho’s one-time assistant Rui Faria considered for the manager job according to the Mirror.

Terry has long held dreams of being in the dugout at Stamford Bridge and it looks as though his ambitions will begin in the Championship. His last club in his playing career, Aston Villa, are impressed with his C.V., enough that they want to bring him in as the number two of the technical team to guide the Birmingham club to the Premier League next season.

The head coach job was to be taken by Arsenal and France legend Thierry Henry, but the current Belgium assistant manager has rather chosen to manage his boyhood club AS Monaco who have approached him to take over the reins from Leonardo Jardim.

Terry’s imminent boss is Dean Smith, who is about to be appointed at Villa Park.
