Maurizio Sarri makes Serie A’s £60m sensation his prime target in January and hopes to beat six top European clubs in race

Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has reportedly told the club to make ready £60 million to sign Genoa striker Krzysztof Piatek in January.

It is the worst kept secret that Chelsea are on the lookout for a striker actually capable of bagging goals after the poor numbers by Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata. Both strikers Sarri relied on this season have a combined three goals in all competitions this season – with all three coming from Morata but the Spain international has been often criticized for his clear misses and lack of confidence in front of goal.

The numbers do not do them any favors and Sarri is out to get another striker. In Serie A where he came from last summer, there’s a new name on the lips of fans – Krzysztof Piatek.

The Pole has scored nine goals in seven games, and 13 goals in all competitions this season, making him the most lethal forward in the Italian game currently.

The Express claim Chelsea could steal a march on Piatek after his stellar displays attracted a host of top European clubs including Juventus, Napoli, AS Roma, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, and Borussia Dortmund.
