The Spain international has been a regular at the club since his signing in the summer of 2016 from Fiorentina and has produced some of the most delightful moments for the club’s fans in recent years.
Adding to his solid defensive contributions, Alonso has been even more impressive in front of goal with the ability to find the back of the net even in the most crucial times in games. His £24 million signing from Serie A makes him look more of a bargain each time he steps unto the pitch and produces a masterclass from the left wing.
Alonso said after signing the deal, that he is looking forward to playing more at ‘one of the best clubs in the world’.
“I am so happy to stay here longer and to keep playing for one of the best teams in the world. It’s been a very good two seasons and I am looking forward to more.”

His deal follows Pedro who also signed a new deal in August but Chelsea will seek to get more of their top players on long-term deals as soon as they can, especially the volatile case of Eden Hazard.
