Chelsea on-loan midfielder Tiemoue Bakaoyoko has warned fans and pundits to watch out for a breakthrough from him in the coming months after struggling early in his time with AC Milan.
The France international was shipped out by Chelsea last summer, with competition from places certainly tougher than before. The arrival of Mateo Kovacic and the sudden preference of Ross Barkley and Jorginho means Bakayoko has to look elsewhere for playing time.
But at Milan, although he has seen some of that this season, the former AS Monaco central midfielder is not the most favored player in the squad. He has been slated by pundits and fans for his poor performances in the cup competitions where he has seen the most action this season.
Bakayoko tells Milan fans to watch out for a better player in the coming months, insisting he is still adjusting to a new league and environment.
“I’ve been very well received. It’s a good group and my integration has gone very well, I’m trying to adapt the way I play. The best of me has yet to come and it’d be better to play a bit more, but I’m already seeing improvements.
A lot of things have changed, it’s a new league and a new style of football but I’m trying to give my best. With time you’ll see the Bakayoko you talk about.”
