Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek enjoyed the best European night of his career and perhaps in a Chelsea shirt after scoring his first hat-trick against BATE Borisov last Thursday.
The England international who has yet to taste consecutive games this season sent a strong message to Maurizio Sarri with a very positive display against BATE. He did not only provide a good option in midfield but the was only goal threat Chelsea carried through the game all night. His first was a delectable one-touch goal after a low cross by David’s Zappacosta. His second was a last-ditch nip ahead of the outstretched Olivier Giroud only a few minutes after the first.
He capped his hat trick with a masterclass curler from just outside the box to cap a great night for him and also send a strong warning to his rivals in Chelsea’s midfield. He now has matched the total number of goals scored by N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Barkley combined.

It may be against Europa League minnows BATE, but this night could be the springboard Loftus-Cheek has been looking for under Sarri.
