“I work at my club to go back to the national team” – Chelsea star believes he has earned the right to return to one of the best national teams in the world

Chelsea central defender David Luiz has been in fine form this season, working his way back into the starting line up again, but his main ambition is to make an impression on Brazil coach Tite.

The former Paris Saint Germain defender was frozen out of the Blues first team by Antonio Conte who fancied the rather youthful Andreas Christensen as one of the three center backs in his favored 3-4-3 system. This season, however, has seen a positive change in fortunes for the 31-year old.

He has been restored in the first team and continues to play an important role for Maurizio Sarri and his new style that seeks to build attacks from the defense.

Luiz is hoping his new found form will convince his national team handlers to bring him back into the Brazil national team.

“I work at my club to go back to the national team, if it is ‘Professor’ Tite’s will. I will always be at their disposal because I love my country.

Tite is doing an excellent job. In Brazil we are not used to giving time to managers. Thankfully they have been able to do so with Tite after the World Cup. I am sure that he is doing [everything] in the best way possible, because he’s amassed positive results for a long period of time. I hope Brazil keeps on growing and reaches the next World Cup in good form.”

Luiz has featured in all 10 Premier League games this season and was also introduced in the second half of the Carabao Cup clash against Derby County when the Blues defence looked shaky.
