Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has revealed it was not the money on offer that swayed his decision to commit the next five years of his career to the Blues.
The France international, currently one of the most celebrated players in world football, has extended his deal that was worth £150,000-a-week. That deal was due to end in 2021, but Kante will now be a Chelsea player until 2023 in a new contract that will reportedly see the Premier League giants pay him £290,000-a-week.
Reports have been rife that Chelsea could have lost Kante to one Manchester United or Paris Saint Germain next summer. Both clubs are massively interested in signing the former Leicester City defensive midfielder but the Blues have taken a quick decision to tie him down to a new deal. The 27-year old says he is very happy to remain at the club that has given him so much in the last two years.
“I’m happy to extend my time with Chelsea, it has been two beautiful years and I wish for more to come.
Since I came, I completely improved as a player, challenged myself and got some awards I never thought about. I like the city, I like the club and I am happy to be here for more time.”

Kante was part of France’s 2018 World Cup winning squad in Russia and is considered simply indispensable to Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea.
