They say in football, every club needs a certain level of luck to achieve major success in the game. Chelsea will need a lot of it in the final stretch of the season and Heung Min Son’s absence from the EFL Cup semi-final second leg clash may be one of those.
The South Korean has been called up by his national team for the Asian Cup and will leave Mauricio Pochettino’s camp on January 13 after Tottenham faces Manchester United in the Premier League. He will miss the league games against Fulham and Watford before the second leg vs Chelsea on January 22 as per the Independent.
He found the back of the net against Chelsea in their first loss of the season when Sarri’s side were dismantled in 3-1 derby defeat at Wembley. The 26-year old also scored in Wednesday night’s EFL Cup quarter-final win over Arsenal at the Emirates stadium to see his side through to the semis.
He has now contributed ten goals in 21 appearances this season and would be a big loss for Pochettino in January but the Spurs squad should be okay enough in his absence.
