The defeat to Leicester City last weekend was only a sign of things to come if the Chelsea technical team do not handle the striker situation well in the coming months.
In a few days, the winter transfer window opens and the Blues will need to prioritize a forward purchase over anything else. Eden Hazard has done well to lead the line for Maurizio Sarri’s side in the last couple of games, but that will not be enough considering what the last game resulted in.
The first home loss this season in all competitions and Sarri’s first in front of his home crowd revealed the true deficiency of the six-time Premier League champions. The story and headlines could have been a lot different had there been a clinical striker upfront. Hazard is fine but not what the Blues need. He attempted a few shots – which is fine – but coupled with Olivier Giroud’s profligacy and inability to read the game and identify opportunities cost Chelsea a lot against the Foxes.
Hopefully, the rumors about strikers being on Chelsea’s radar are true and at least one of them joins our squad to offer the need competition.
