Chelsea have completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund star forward Christian Pulisic for a fee of £58m, although the player will spend the rest of the season with the German side, according to the club’s official website.
The Blues have acted quickly in the January transfer window, making Pulisic their first signing and more significantly, beating the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal who were linked with the forward in recent months.
Pulisic, whose contract was to expire in 2020 has put pen to paper for Chelsea ahead of the summer move with Dortmund’s technical director explaining the reason for his decision:
“It was always Christian’s dream to play in the Premier League. That certainly has to do with his American background, and as a result we were unable to extend his contract.
Against this background, we have decided to accept an extremely lucrative bid by Chelsea, given the low contract maturity.”

The 20-year old will likely become a key player in Maurizio Sarri’s side, but it is unknown if he will replace Eden Hazard or simply beef up the squad.
Willian and Pedro are other wingers hoping to play a huge part next season but they are both beyond 30 now, and it’s no surprise to see the transfer team looking to lower the side’s average age a little.
