Why Chelsea signing Christian Pulisic does not spell doom for Callum Hudson-Odoi’s future

The excitement of signing a new player rings through every club, from fans to the technical team and even to the player’s new teammates. However, when the new signing blocks the development of bright academy players, fans can get really upset.

Although it understandable for Chelsea fans to be upset by the continuous decisions by the club that point to stunting the growth of Callum Hudson-Odoi, the signing of Christian Pulisic is not one of those and here is why.

Pulisic is 20 years old and although he will push to start ahead of Hudson-Odoi next season, there will be room for both in the months and seasons to follow. Willian and Pedro are over 30 years and will likely see their playing time dwindle over the next year – and they may even be sold.

It is unknown if Eden Hazard will leave next summer, but regardless, there is the belief that both Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi will be the future of Chelsea’s attack.
