Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has revealed what he thinks can save his job at the moment following the backlash he has received from fans after his side’s loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup.
The Blues tumbled out of the FA Cup in the fifth round following the 2-0 defeat to Ole Gunnar Solkdjaer’s side at Stamford Bridge and for the first time, Chelsea fans were heard calling for their head coach to be sacked with chants of ‘you’re getting sacked in the morning’ while they jeered every substitution he made in the game.
His problems have been magnified by the manner Chelsea have been losing games. The 3-1 loss to Tottenham at Wembley in the autumn before the 2-0 loss to Arsenal, the 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth and the 6-0 demolishing at the Etihad Stadium have compounded the subtle problems he has had with creating a style of play at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri now says the only way he can win back the fans’ trust and save his job is to win consecutively.
“We need to win three, four matches in a row. It’s the only solution. I can understand very well the frustration of our fans because they are used to winning. Now we are in trouble, so I can understand very well. There isn’t another way. We can only have good performances and results.”
