What Maurizio Sarri said to Kepa Arrizabalaga in dressing room battering

Shortly after the defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final, Maurizio Sarri gave Kepa Arrizabalaga a dressing-down following his disgraceful actions on the pitch during the game.

The Spain international brushed off a substitution – one he had orchestrated himself by going down with an injury – by Sarri in the dying minutes of the game when the Italian manager decided to throw in Willy Caballero a few moments before the penalty shootout Chelsea would eventually lose.

Sarri was so irritated he wanted to confront the goalkeeper in front of the onlooking fans inside Wembley, but Antonio Rudiger stepped in to calm the former Napoli head coach after extra time. The pair had been involved in a ridiculous melodrama with Kepa insisting on not being replaced by Caballero.

Surprisingly after the game, Sarri claimed it was merely a misunderstanding and he would not directly punish the 24-year old although Chelsea later issued an official statement on their website dishing out a one-week fine to their number one goalkeeper for publicly disrespecting the boss.

According to the Mirror, however, Sarri asked Kepa in a dressing room rant, “How could you do this?”
