FIFA hit Chelsea with another devastating setback over two-window transfer ban

We have some breaking news to bring you courtesy of Sky Sports, and unfortunately Blues, you’re not going to like it one bit.

Following Chelsea’s request for FIFA to postpone our impending transfer ban while the appeal process is taking place, we have been given a reply, and as Sky Sports report, it’s a negative.

As reported by the Independent, Chelsea were hit with the two transfer window ban having been found guilty of illegally signing 29 ‘minor’ players. Our worst fears were realised when the news first broke.

Chelsea hoped that they would be able to sign players in the upcoming transfer window in preparation for the impending ban, but FIFA clearly have no interest in allowing it to happen – which is devastating news from our perspective.

Maurizio Sarri’s squad is far from complete, with question marks remaining over the futures of several key players – notably Eden Hazard. As things stand, we would be unable to replace those who depart.

As noted by ESPN reporter Liam Twomey, FIFA were more flexible when it came to Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid’s transfer bans – but clearly aren’t too fond of Chelsea.

This saga is not over just yet, with Chelsea having the option to take the case to the CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport), but it’s another setback for a club who have suffered many this past year.
