Some Chelsea fans on Twitter, believe it or not, are asking for Marcos Alonso to be sent off.
Alonso was drafted back into the starting eleven for this fixture, having netted a goal and provided an assist against Dynamo Kiev midweek. It’s proven to be a naive decision from Maurizio Sarri.
Sarri, who must be accustomed with Alonso’s flaws by now, started him knowing full well that he is an inept defender. Emerson’s omission looked all the more puzzling as Alonso gifted Everton a penalty which essentially signed and sealed their victory.
Alonso was already on a yellow card, having picked up a needless booking during the first-half. He survived conceding a penalty, but some of the Chelsea faithful wish that he didn’t.
We’ve never seen anything quite like this before, but there are Chelsea fans who have taken to Twitter to plead with the referee that Alonso is dismissed. Have a look at this – we’ve seen it all now!
