‘I think so’ – Maurizio Sarri expects winger to still be at Chelsea next season

Maurizio Sarri expects Callum Hudson-Odoi to be at Chelsea next season, regardless of whether the club are able to tie him down to a contract extension.

You’re probably as tired of reading about Hudson-Odoi’s future as the British people are with Brexit, but unfortunately it’s our responsibility to cover every twist and turn in the saga.

The latest instalment is a pretty positive one, which is a rarity when it comes from a press conference held by manager Maurizio Sarri.

As reported by Standard Sport’s Simon Johnson, live from the Cobham training ground, Sarri does not expect CHO to leave this summer under any circumstances.

Though this does not bring us any closer to securing a contract extension, the longer he remains at Chelsea, the better chance we have of tying him down.

Ultimately, whatever fee we could receive for him this summer would be peanuts compared to what he’ll be worth in his prime. The club are right to shut the exit door in this case.

Especially taking into account the fact that we may find ourselves unable to replace him, there would be no benefit to cashing-in. Give him a chance and change his mind!
