Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri has trended on social media and in the newspapers on Monday morning for the wrong reasons. Fans have called for his head at the club and the media have been generally unforgiving.
Pundits after Chelsea’s win over Cardiff have lashed out at the Italian coach with some suggesting he does not deserve to remain manager of the Blues. Why is this so? He picked up three points, so why is everyone connected to the club against him?

Sarri has cut a stubborn figure in his maiden season at the club. He has stuck to a system that has not gone too well at Stamford Bridge and after failing out of the FA Cup to Manchester United in the fifth round, Chelsea fans were heard chanting ‘Sarri out’ in the stadium.
Those chants returned at the Cardiff City Stadium when Sarri decided to drop Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante to the bench. It was with the motive of resting the pair, but two of Chelsea’s best players cannot be dropped when the team is clearly struggling away from home.
Another reason why Sarri remains a black sheep in the Chelsea herd is his tactics. “Boring” seems overused for the system he has introduced at the Bridge, but deservedly so. Chelsea pass the ball to great effect, but only in a recycling manner. There’s basically no end product to it, and the goals have dried up since the summer.
Sarri looks an isolated figure at the club now, and he needs to act fast before he’s pushed out by the masses.
