Croatia star makes his mind on Chelsea contract but one thing could prevent summer deal

Chelsea midfielder on loan from Real Madrid, Mateo Kovacic has made up his mind to commit his future to the Blues but FIFA’s transfer ban on the Blues could scupper the deal.

Next summer, there are a few decisions the top brass of the club will need to make on the squad. The playing body will require a few adjustments and Kovacic is one of the key issues. His situation is quite complex but he seems keen to keep it simple for his current club.

He wants to remain in London, with a report by Sport Witness claiming Kovacic will refuse to return to Real Madrid as he loves what he has found at Stamford Bridge. Regular playing time, respect among squad members and a decent relationship with the manager makes him comfortable with life in the Premier League.

Marca had reported earlier this year that Kovacic wants to stay beyond his temporary deal but he now wants to officially communicate that to Los Blancos chiefs despite Zinedine Zidane returning as manager.
