“The only title we can win” – N’Golo Kante sees opportunity to make season ‘beautiful’ via Europa League campaign

Chelsea are chasing silverware this season but that can only materialise in the Europa League where they have progressed to the semi-final.

The Blues beat Slavia Prague 5-3 on aggregate to advance to the last four but the scoreline flatters the Blues after a dreadful second leg. They were pegged back for the most part of the second half at Stamford Bridge as the Czech Republic side made a push for a rare win in England.

They needed to beat Chelsea by a one-goal margin to qualify but their efforts were curtailed by a late regrouping by Chelsea to saw to the win. Now the Blues will face German side Eintracht Frankfurt in the last four and a win in that tie will mean Chelsea would face one of Arsenal and Valencia in the final of the Europa League.

The chance to win silverware is clear for Chelsea as is a possible qualification to the Champions League next season through the Premier League standings, but Kante fancies his side picking up the European trophy on route to Europe’s top tier competition next season.

“We can make the season beautiful by winning the Europa League. That’s the only title we can win now, so it would be great to win the Europa League. We’re not favourites. We played a good match tonight and we will do all we can to get to the final. But we’re not favourites.”
