Maurizio Sarri has failed to get the best out of his defensive setup in his maiden season at Chelsea and the last few games have exposed the frailties at the back even more.
In the last two games, Chelsea conceded five goals. The Europa League semi-final second leg victory over Slavia Prague produced seven goals, four for Chelsea. The three conceded was caused by a stir at Chelsea’s back and the defensive mayhem continued when the Blues took on Burnley on Monday night.

Jeff Hendrick and Ashley Barnes scored two goals when Sarri’s players went to sleep in crucial moments. Hendrick’s goal was scored from outside the box when a set piece was not dealt with probably and a similar blunder led to the second by Barnes when he was left all alone in the six-yard box after a free-kick fell loosely to him.
With three games to the end of the season as Chelsea chase a top-four place, Sarri must sort out his defensive problems or he will get whitewashed by his rivals.
