Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has been magical this season, playing some of the most delightful football he ever has afforded in his career. Perhaps that is why the world is full of shock at the moment that he was omitted from the PFA Team of the Year.
Hazard has been instrumental in Chelsea’s run for a top-four place this season and although the Blues are struggling to compete with the other three teams involved in the chase, the Belgium international has been a true stand-out.
Hazard’s numbers back him up to be named in the best 11 players of the campaign, but he was bizarrely left out to hint something malicious from the eligible voters. Squawka puts this together nicely in their tweet on Thursday morning after the announcement by PFA.

Eden Hazard has been directly involved in more goals (29) than any other player in the Premier League this season:

🅰️ 13 assists— Squawka (@Squawka) April 25, 2019
In fact, no one has directly won more points for his side this season than Hazard as put out by WhoScored in the tweet below.
Paul Pogba: Has had a direct hand in 22 league goals this season (13 goals, 9 assists); His goals and assists have earned Man Utd an additional 22 points
Only Eden Hazard's goals and assists (29) have won his side more points (23)

It is a professional league of very high standards and the assumption is that the best players will not be overlooked when honoring best performances. Hazard’s oversight, unfortunately, is mystifying.
