Chelsea will be hoping to sign players in the coming transfer window to beef up their squad and remain competitive in the season to follow, but FIFA’s transfer embargo puts so much restriction on them.
An extension has been mulled over, with previous clubs facing similar allegations being granted one, although there are no guarantees that any deals will be allowed by the governing body of football.
There remains a possibility that one player could be acquired this summer, even in the event of a transfer ban – and that man is Mateo Kovacic.
A report by the Daily Mirror offers hope for those who wish to see the Croatian remain at Stamford Bridge beyond the end of the season.

As per the report, Chelsea can get the Croatia international permanently as Real Madrid do not see a future for him at the club and are willing to trade him next summer.
Chelsea however, are only being given until May 5 to sign the deal, be it an extension of the loan deal or an outright purchase.
The option to extend the loan deal though has a clause in it. Real want Chelsea to agree to purchase him after the additional year for £26 million, according to the Mirror.
With Kovacic struggling to impress this season, the obligation of a permanent deal would be a risk, even if a deal would be agreeable at such a ‘low’ figure.
What would you do, Blues?
