Chelsea transfer ban update provided by journalist – and it’s not good news

Standard Sport reporter Simon Johnson has provided an update on Chelsea’s ongoing appeal on the dreaded transfer ban.

Chelsea were given a two-window ban for breaking rules over the signing of minors. It’s a similar offence which has seen Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid punished.

The difference between ourselves and the Spanish trio, however, is that FIFA flat out denied our request to suspend the ban while the appeal process was ongoing.

Chelsea have subsequently appealed against the decision to uphold the ban, which Simon Johnson believes is yet to come to a conclusion, nor will it soon.

As he notes in his tweet, Chelsea’s plans for the summer are on hold as a result of the uncertainty surrounding whether or not we’ll be able to sign players.

It’s a nightmare situation for both Maurizio Sarri and those above him, but he needs to keep his focus on the task at hand in the tail end of the season.
