Chelsea’s battle to keep starlet only just beginning as Bayern, Barcelona and Man United hover

Callum Hudson-Odoi is still hoping to sign for Bayern Munich this summer, despite suffering a long-term achilles injury, according to the Daily Mail.

As the report notes, Hudson-Odoi wanted out of Chelsea in January, with Bayern thought to be the frontrunners. The Blues stood firm, though, and he remained.

Hudson-Odoi was subsequently handed further opportunities to impress, with a spot in the starting eleven finally being nailed down before an injury ended his season.

We had, perhaps naively, assumed that Hudson-Odoi would be remaining as a result, but the Daily Mail have now claimed to the contrary.

Their belief is that Hudson-Odoi still wants out, with Manchester United and Barcelona also joining Bayern in the race to sign the youngster.

Chelsea are thought to be deliberating over whether or not to cash-in, but it really ought to be an easy decision for those at the top at Stamford Bridge.

Hudson-Odoi is a gem, a generational talent. The report claims that contract talks are yet to be held, which is utterly ridiculous considering his recent involvement.

Chelsea should not even consider the possibility of letting him go. We don’t need cash. We need a player of his talent, who’s home bred, to build his future with us – and us only.

Chelsea a better fit for CHO

Hudson-Odoi is adored at Chelsea. It’s rare for a player of his tender age to be thought of so highly within the fanbase.

At Bayern, he’d be battling close friend Jadon Sancho for the Bundesliga title, but the club’s tendency to splash the cash means that he could be out the side as quickly as he gets in.

Man United won’t be playing Champions League football next season, while Chelsea will. They’re also in the midst of a downward spiral, one CHO doesn’t want to be a part of.

A club like Barcelona would be an attractive option for any player with their head screwed on straight, but it’s difficult to see him getting much playing time at the Camp Nou.

Chelsea is right for Hudson-Odoi. We hope he realises that.
