Liverpool urged to sign Chelsea prodigy by club legend Mark Lawrenson

Liverpool legend and BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has urged Jurgen Klopp to sign Chelsea youngster Reece James during an interview with the Daily Star.

James has enjoyed one hell of a season on-loan at Wigan. Last season’s academy player of the year has taken to life in the professional game like a fish to water.

He’s already ready to be a part of Chelsea’s first-team setup and it would come as no surprise if he were to take Davide Zappacosta’s spot in the summertime.

Unfortunately, his good performances have also been turning heads away from Stamford Bridge. We now have Lawro who wants to see him at Liverpool.

He told the Daily Star:

“But I tell you who I’ve seen – and I don’t think they could easily get him – the right-back at Wigan, on loan from Chelsea, Reece James.”

“In that league he makes it look so ridiculously easy. I think he could make the step up. But of course he belongs to Chelsea at the moment.”

We couldn’t stomach seeing James in a Liverpool shirt, it was bad enough with Dominic Solanke. Losing him would be yet another criminal mistake from the Chelsea board.

Thankfully, we don’t think it likely that this one will materialise. You can rest easy without the thought of James pulling on a Liverpool shirt.
