Chelsea have automatically qualified for the Champions League group stage after finishing third in the Premier League table.
There was a time that we thought it improbable that Chelsea would be playing Champions League football next term at all, yet here we are, we just finished chuffing third.
It says more about the quality of those around us that we’ve managed to defy the odds and pull this off, but Maurizio Sarri deserves great credit considering what a tough season it’s been for him.
We can now head into next season knowing that we were the best of the rest, if you like. The closest team to Manchester City and Liverpool, while not being anywhere near that level.
We also have the guarantee of playing Champions League football, avoiding qualifying through fourth place and facing the possibility of a playoff game to secure our status.
