Maurizio Sarri CAN still sign two players this summer, despite Chelsea currently having a transfer ban in place.
But there’s a catch – they’re Gonzalo Higuain and Mateo Kovacic.
The two former Real Madrid men promised plenty upon their arrival, but have delivered little on said promises.
Higuain is far past his best, while Kovacic is not nearly as effective as Ruben Loftus-Cheek. We Chelsea fans have warmed to neither of them.
Our opinion counts for little, though. The man who makes the decisions is Maurizio Sarri – and he wants them both.
This information is reported by Goal, who are under the impression that both can sign permanently, despite our ban.
Both players are keen on permanent moves, per the report, with Chelsea confident that they can bypass FIFA’s ruling to secure them both.
The only potential stumbling block is Sarri’s precarious future. Goal believe that it’s far from certain that he’ll be here next season.
It would make little sense to purchase either if we were to have a change of management. We’d be best to save the cash for the new man in charge.
We’re set for an interesting few months ahead. Strap in and (try to) enjoy the ride.
