Chelsea have two managers lined up to replace Maurizio Sarri in the event that he departs this summer, according to Italian outlet Sport Mediaset.
It’s far from a certainty that Sarri will be walking out the Stamford Bridge exit door, but the way this season has gone, it’d be a surprise to few.
Relations with the fans have turned sour, with Chelsea being incredibly fortunate to finish in third place in the Premier League.
It’s been far from the perfect season, even if our initial objectives were met by getting back into the Champions League.
Knowing Roman Abramovich, Sarri may well be dismissed. Chelsea managers have been sacked for less in the past.
If he does, ANOTHER manager would be required. Sport Mediaset claim to know the identity of our two targets.
According to the report, Frank Lampard and Javi Gracia have been lined up. Both have impressed at Derby and Watford respectively.
As much as a fairytale return for Lamps would be tempting, we ought to give Sarri adequate time to turn this Chelsea side into his Chelsea side.
Let’s not be too trigger happy.
