Chelsea are yet to open talks over the future of Gonzalo Higuain, meaning the Argentine could soon be departing, according to the Telegraph.
Higuain has been Chelsea’s starting striker since arriving from AC Milan in January. However, he’s managed just five goals in 18 appearances.
The former Real Madrid and Juventus man has retained his finishing ability in his elder years, but not a great deal more. He’s been poor, for the most part.
It would be no disaster, from a fan’s perspective, if Higuain was not here next season, even if Maurizio Sarri would likely think differently.
If Sarri is hoping to see him stay, he could soon be frustrated. The Telegraph believe that there’s been no movement on that front thus far.
The Telegraph claim that Juventus are asking for £15.5M to extend his loan for a further season and £31M to purchase him outright.
That is utterly ridiculous money for a player well past his best.
It is no surprise that Marina Granovskaia is unwilling to cough up the cash for a player who would not justify either expenditure.
With Tammy Abraham and Michy Batshuayi set to return this summer, we’d be far better off showing faith in either of those two.
