Transfers: Chelsea will pursue £40M winger this summer if transfer ban is frozen

Chelsea have identified Ajax winger David Neres as a potential transfer target should the transfer ban be overturned, according to the Daily Mail.

While there’s little hope of our transfer ban being removed completely following an appeal, the possibility of it being frozen is a legitimate one.

In the event of a postponement to the ban, which would allow us to sign players this summer, the Daily Mail believe David Neres would be a target for us.

Neres played a starring role in Ajax’s success this term, with the Dutch side winning the Eredivisie and reaching the Champions League semi-final.

The Daily Mail claim that he’s valued in the region of £40M, with Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool and Arsenal also being linked with the 22-year-old.

Chelsea already have Christian Pulisic arriving from Borussia Dortmund, but there’s nothing wrong with stockpiling talent, especially in attacking areas.

This is exactly the kind of player we ought to be after. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that the ban gets frozen and Neres gets signed.
