Both Chelsea and Arsenal will be able to name 12 players on the substitutes bench for the Europa League final later this month, report the Times.
Cup finals of this kind can be long and treacherous, with injuries and fatigue playing their part, especially at this stage of the campaign.
Substitutions can win and lose games of this magnitude, which may be a concern to some considering Maurizio Sarri’s hit and miss sub track record.
Though Sarri has made some questionable changes throughout this season, you have to think he can get it right when he has TWELVE to choose from.
That’s right, the Times report that both the teams competing in this year’s Champions League and Europa League finals will be allowed 12 substitutes.
It’s unclear how they’re expecting all 12 of them to fit on the bench, but we’re certainly interested to see it. Who knows, Rob Green might actually be involved!
