Chelsea have not yet been seriously linked with Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale, but the stage is set for us to bag the Welshman, if we so wish.
The chances are that the Blues will be without their talisman Eden Hazard come the start of next season. IF we are able to make transfers this summer, we’d be naive not to adequately replace him.
The question is – who?
Very few of those who are on, or even near, Hazard’s level are unobtainable, but Gareth Bale, who at his best is one of THE best, looks as though he will be needing a new club this summer.
Following Real Madrid’s 0-2 home defeat to Real Betis on the final day of La Liga season, Bale headed off down the Santiago Bernabeu tunnel, rather than staying out with the team and thanking the fans.

Bale has been treated abhorrently by the Real Madrid fans and it comes as no surprise that he’s not giving them any sort of a respectable farewell. They don’t deserve it.
The Welshman, still only 29-years-old, needs to sign for a club who will appreciate him for everything that he is. Chelsea would absolutely do that, if his performances justified it.
If we do decide to enter the race, Duncan Castle writes for the Times that Bale could be available on a free. Even with his high wages, surely that would be worth a punt?
He could not only replace Hazard’s influence on the field, but also has the brand and global popularity to replace what the Belgian has given us on the marketing side of things.
Yet here we are, twiddling our thumbs…
