Chelsea likely to permanently wave goodbye to £21M forgotten man this summer

Chelsea are looking increasingly likely to part with left-back Baba Rahman on a permanent basis this summer, according to Ghana Web.

Baba made 23 appearances in total during his debut season as a Chelsea player, but clearly wasn’t rated by Antonio Conte, who loaned him to Schalke.

Fast forward three years and Baba has made just 27 league appearances since, with both injury and poor form stunting his progression.

With Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso quite evidently better alternatives, Baba has little chance of making it at Chelsea this summer.

Ghana Web believe that now is the time that we will part with him permanently, rather than run the risk of losing him on a free transfer.

The report notes that Chelsea forked out £21M to sign Baba four years ago. It seems unlikely that we’ll be able to recoup much of that figure.

Chelsea will likely be forced to make a loss on Baba, but if the other option is not receiving a penny, then we ought to take what we can get.
