David Luiz ready to chase “every title” next season

David Luiz has had a very good 12 months. It looked very likely he would leave last summer, but the departure of Antonio Conte saved his skin.

He had fallen out of favor under the Italian coach, and his advancing years made him vulnerable to replacement. But our failure to buy anyone else in that position meant that he was left as first choice for Maurizio Sarri once he had arrived, and he kept that place all year.

Now, thanks to the transfer ban, he looks set to be our number one defender again, and he’s signed a new deal to keep him at the club for another two years.

Goal.com have quotes from the Brazilian where he reveals that he is hoping that the Blues compete on all fronts again this year:

“I think if we keep this mentality, take all the positive things we did this season and if we continue to improve and learn, we are going to be fighting for every title around the world,” the former PSG man said.

“You think about winning every single competition because if it’s not like that, you cannot play for a big club,” he continued.

We hope so too David. If we want to have a chance of winning anything, we will need you in top form.
