Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho is attracting interest from Chelsea, but would prefer to seal a move to PSG this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Coutinho has been continually linked with Chelsea over the past weeks and months, yet we are still not entirely convinced that our interest is genuine.
The Brazilian has been unable to produce his best performance level at Barcelona, so it begs the question why Chelsea would take such an expensive risk.
Regardless, Mundo Deportivo believe our interest to be existent, with contact already being made with Coutinho’s camp over a potential move.
However, their belief is that Coutinho would much prefer a move to PSG than Chelsea this summer, which would put us on the back foot in our pursuit of him.
There certainly are questions to be asked, notably why we would open conversations with Coutinho’s representatives while unable to make transfers.
A player of his quality cannot be expected to wait a year to make a move, and we certainly can’t loan him to Vitesse Arnhem. It all smells a little bit fishy.
