Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has fired shots at former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri after the Italian left Stamford Bridge to take charge at Juventus.
Sarri decided to leave Chelsea in search of greener pastures back in Italy. It was a decision which few could deny was in his best interests, especially after how he was treated here.
While we understand, if slightly resent, Sarri’s decision to depart, De Laurentiis appears fully intent to hold it against his former manager, as he revealed to ilBiancoNero.
De Laurentiis’ spicy comments are quoted into English by Football London, and the Napoli chief does not hold back in his assessment of the recently announced appointment:
“I am not surprised about Sarri’s move to Juve, football is no longer a world of icons and loyalty.”
“He didn’t win anything here and maybe he will not win anything in Turin.”
Sarri gave De Laurentiis the best opportunity he’s had of winning the Serie A title. Napoli racked up 92 points in 2017/18, there’s little more Maurizio could have done.
He’s right in his comments about loyalty, however. There’s little of it left in the game…
