The fee that Chelsea are to part with for the permanent signing of Mateo Kovacic is lower than Real Madrid had initially hoped for, according to AS.
Kovacic rarely inspired during his debut season as a Blue, but the club appear to believe that he has the potential to expand his influence at Stamford Bridge.
As a result, and as AS report, the full-time acquisition of Kovacic’s services is on the verge of being completed, for what they report to be a €45M fee.
€45M looks to be a hefty figure for a player who was unable to score in 51 appearances last term, but Real Madrid aren’t entirely content with what they’ll be paid.
AS claim that Los Blancos were expecting to raise more through the sale of the Croatia international. It’s claimed that €45M is not being considered entirely sufficient.
Florentino Perez had to raise money from somewhere after his side’s recent spending spree, with Marina Granovskaia likely taking advantage of that. Hats off, Marina!
