Leeds United fearful Frank Lampard grudge could scupper pursuit of Chelsea youngster

Leeds United fear that Frank Lampard becoming Chelsea boss could derail their attempts to sign centre-back Jake Clarke-Salter, according to The Sun.

Clarke-Salter was handed the armband for England U21s as they embarked on their European Championship campaign earlier this month.

While it was a tournament to forget for the youngsters, Clarke-Salter will take great confidence from being entrusted to captain the side.

He’ll also be spurred on by claims from The Sun that he’s wanted by promotion chasing Leeds on loan for the 2019/20 campaign.

However, the existence of their interest doesn’t necessarily mean the move will come to fruition. The Sun believe Leeds fear they could be left empty-handed.

You will be no stranger to the animosity between Leeds and Lampard last term, notably after what is frequently dubbed ‘Spygate’.

Leeds believe that Lampard becoming Chelsea manager could scupper any chance they had of landing Clarke-Salter on loan this summer.
