Petr Cech has confirmed that Frank Lampard is one of several candidates for the vacant Chelsea manager’s position, report the Mirror.
One of the main positives of having Cech behind the scenes was that the disconnect between the supporters and the club would be resolved.
Marina Granovskaia never speaks in the public eye, nor does owner Roman Abramovich. It’s now Cech’s role to keep us in the loop on club matters.
He’s done exactly that while discussing the managerial situation, confirming that Lampard is in the running to replace Maurizio Sarri.
Cech is quoted by the Mirror saying:
“The club has identified several candidates, the situation is open. Frank is one of them. Before the first team begins preparations we want to solve the issue of the new manager.”
We would consider Lampard the frontrunner to get the job, but can’t help but wonder who else is being considered by the club for the job.
We’ve had little indication that there is anyone else being approached other than Lampard, so it comes as a surprise to us that there are more managers in the frame.
