Frank Lampard has made a request to Chelsea regarding the future of one of our youngsters after taking the reins at Stamford Bridge, according to The Sun.
Lampard will have been watching from the sidelines as a Chelsea supporter since 2014, having his own opinions as to the right way the club should be run.
The club’s highest ever goal scorer now has the power to make those decisions at Stamford Bridge, and it looks as though he’s taking advantage of it from day one.
The Sun report that Lampard has insisted that Mason Mount is tied down to a new contract before Chelsea head off on their pre-season tour of Japan.
Mount spent last season out on-loan at Derby with Lampard, proving to be an important player as the Rams reached the playoff final.
How much of a considerable role Mount will play this season is something only time will tell, but if this news is credible, it’s a show of faith from Lampard.
