Have Chelsea taken a sly dig at Alvaro Morata on Twitter? The Blues appear to have referred to the Spaniard’s sale as ‘good news’.
Morata spent the second half of the 2018/19 campaign on-loan with Atletico, a move that appeared to benefit all parties involved in the deal.
The 26-year-old has now been given further clarification on his future, with the announcement that the deal will become permanent from next summer.
Chelsea shared the news with fans on Twitter.
Thank you and good luck, @AlvaroMorata. 👊

While there is certainly no animosity shown by the club in this tweet, what came next can seriously be interpreted as a direct dig at our former striker.
On the same day of Morata’s departure, Chelsea announced that academy product Ruben Loftus-Cheek had signed a new five-year contract with the club.
See the below tweet, with Chelsea opening with ‘More good news’…
More good news…

Intentional or not, what Chelsea have done here is refer to Morata’s permanent departure as good news. Even if we’re inclined to agree, that’s a little harsh…
