Premier League outfit Burnley are hoping to strike a deal to sign Chelsea centre-back Fikayo Tomori for £15M this summer, according to the Daily Star.
Tomori enjoyed a brilliant campaign on-loan with Derby County last season, with Frank Lampard giving him the opportunity to play regular football in England’s second tier.
The 21-year-old was voted the Rams’ player of the season, but has now returned to Chelsea following the expiration of his loan deal with the promotion chasers.
We’d stop short of saying that Tomori has the edge over his defensive counterparts due to his pre-existing relationship with Lampard, but it will certainly do him no harm.
That’s why it would be bizarre for him to walk out the door without giving life at Chelsea a proper crack, yet the Daily Star report that Burnley are showing interest.
While Sean Dyche’s side would likely fast-track him into the first-team, Tomori does have the potential to be a starter here in the future – surely jumping ship now would be the wrong decision?
Either way, if Tomori does push to leave this summer, the Daily Star report that Burnley would be prepared to give us £15M in exchange for him, which isn’t bad business at all.
